Ovarian cancer often misdiagnosed

Osteopath Abby Mulholland
recently gave an eye opening talk on the misdiagnosis of ovarian cancer.

Ovarian cancer is often misdiagnosed for Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).
IBS diagnosis is most prevalent in people in their twenties and thirties.
If a woman over 50 presents with new onset of IBS like symptoms, it is important that ovarian cancer is considered as a diagnosis.
The 3 key symptoms are:-
*Persistant pelvic and abdominal pain.
*Increased abdominal size/persistant bloating – not bloating that comes and goes.
*Difficulty eating and feeling full quickly.
In most cases it is unlikely that these symptoms are ovarian cancer, but they may be present in some women with the disease.
