Acupuncture and Scenar Therapy Acupuncture is a tried and tested system of Chinese Medicine, which is over 2,000 years old, it restores and promotes good health and wellbeing by inserting hair-thin needles into specific locations. Acupuncture aims to stimulate the body's own healing response, to accelerate healing and help to restore its natural balance. Tracey Goulding, our in-house acupuncturist and SCENAR Practitioner, specialises in injury and pain, women's fertility and pregnancy healthcare. Acupuncture and Fertility Acupuncture has been known to increase your chances of conception naturally or with IVF. Acupuncture helps relieve stress, balance hormones and boosts the flow of blood and energy to the reproductive organs. Acupuncture and Pregnancy Acupuncture offers a safe, effective and drug-free option during pregnancy. It can be used to help a wide variety of pregnancy-related complaints. We also offer four weekly pre-birth sessions to prepare you and your baby for labour, including advice on techniques to use during labour to promote better baby positioning, cervix effacement and relieve pain. However, if you are overdue acupuncture can also be used to gently induce labour, usually an average of 3 or more sessions are required. SCENAR Therapy brings together cutting-edge technology, advanced neuroscience understanding with the centuries of knowledge from Traditional Chinese Medicine. The SCENAR (Self Controlling Energo-Neuro Adaptive Regulator) device is non-invasive, promotes the body’s own self healing and so relieves pain. It was developed by Russian scientists working on the Russian space programme in the 1970s. The SCENAR device acts through the skin sending mild electrical signals which stimulate the body’s own healing response. A gentle tingling sensation is experienced. Russian clinical trials demonstrate a wide range of health conditions benefiting from SCENAR, as most conditions involve some level of pain and inflammation. However in the UK SCENAR is often used to help musculo-skeletal aches and pains, whether from disease or injury. SCENAR Therapy can be used to diagnose and treat at the same time. Only those with a pacemaker and who are pregnant cannot receive this treatment. Tracey has used her therapies to help many health conditions, including:

Deep tissue massage is often recommended for individuals who experience consistent pain, or who have tension in their body from prolonged stress or a repetitive physical activity or work posture. Deep tissue massage is applied to both the superficial and deep layers of muscles, fascia, and other structures. The sessions are often quite intense as a result of the deliberate, focused work. Homeopathy Homeopathy is a system of medicine treating the individual to help trigger the body’s natural system of healing. An extensive medical history is taken, enabling the homeopath to match the most appropriate medicine to each individual patient.
Homeopathy has been widely used throughout the world for more than 200 years. In 2000, the House of Lords’ Select Committee on Science & Technology cited homeopathy as one of the five Group One therapies, having “an individual diagnostic approach” along with osteopathy, chiropractic, herbal medicine and acupuncture. Amal has written a feature in the online magazine Families Online for the month of June on page 13. Follow this link to view it: http://www.familesonline.co.uk Another link that Amal would like to share with you is about sleep disorders follow the link to read about how homeopathy can help in this area http://www.a-r-h.org/NewsandEvents/Sleep%20disorders%202011.pdf As well as being a fully experienced, qualified registered homeopath, Amal is also a qualified Cranio-Sacral therapist and with your consent she may use this therapy to help diagnose and treat your condition. The patient remains clothed during this treatment. When you book your appointment you will be sent a form to fill in, to give the homeopath some background information about you. Hypnotherapy
Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP) deals with understanding how people can experience exactly the same event, yet interpret it differently, react to it differently, and remember it differently. Each individual makes sense of the world around them by different strategies. If the strategies used to interpret the world are not working favourably, then NLP allows us to alter some or all of the strategy in order to produce a more positive outcome. Through suggestion during hypnosis, NLP can help the client to make changes faster and more permanent. In childbirth for example, Hypnosis is the only known no-risk pain reliever, making it safer for both mother and baby, and it has also been shown to reduce instances of post-natal depression. As a guideline, four sessions are recommended to be taken at any time during the pregnancy, which help prepare them on both a conscious and sub-conscious level for the whole birth process. Some people prefer to have them earlier on in pregnancy so that they can have more time to practice the techniques learnt. Hypnotherapy can be used to help with a variety of problems. Some of these include: stress or anxiety; panic attacks; confidence issues; smoking cessation; phobias; weight loss; eating disorders; stuttering or stammering; sports performance; and habits or compulsions. Sessions are tailored for each individual client’s needs. Changes often occur more quickly than other traditional forms of therapy, with the average person needing only 3-4 sessions. Smoking cessation and phobias generally require only one session. Prices vary, Please speak with therapist. |

Foot Reflexology Reflexology is a holistic therapy that promotes well-being and relaxation through gentle pressure on the feet. It helps to rebalance 'energy' in the body and stimulate natural healing processes. All parts of the body are said to be 'reflected' in the feet and stimulating these relevant areas is thought to influence their corresponding organs and systems. For example, the big toe 'represents' the head and neck and working in this area can help to relieve corresponding aches. Crystalline deposits of waste products such as calcium and uric acid accumulate around nerve endings on the foot and feel 'crunchy'. A swelling or just a strange sensation could indicate a possible problem in the related zone. Working on a point helps crush the crystals and stimulate circulation so that the lymph system can more easily eliminate them. Practitioners begin by examining the general appearance of your feet, noting their shape and condition. A dusting of talcum powder helps them use their thumbs and knuckles on the reflex points in a combination of massage, pressure and pinching, noting areas of pain or tenderness that call for extra attention. Several weekly treatments may be required. Most people find reflexology relaxing, but occasionally symptoms may worsen before improving, which is said to be a sign that the body's natural healing processes are removing 'toxins'. Our reflexologist has treated people with many health problems, including back pain, migraine, arthritis, womens' reproductive health problems, digestive disorders, sport injuries, sleep disorders, and hormonal imbalances and stress-related conditions. We welcome Claire Mc Carthy our new foot reflexologist to the practice. 1 hour treatment £45 1 and a half hours foot and face £70 |

Hopi Ear Candling Hopi ear candling, also known as Thermo Auricular Therapy, is an ancient form of therapy. I's' name is taken from the Hopi Indians of North Arizona and means 'peaceful people'. Hopi candling is a safe therapy and its popularity is growing as more people become aware of its positive benefits. The process of Hopi candling involves a specially designed hollow candle being inserted just inside the ear canal. The candle is then lit and the suction that is formed draws impurities from the ear. This process is known as the chimney effect. The rising air gives the ear drum a gentle massage and also helps to regulate ear pressure. A small amount of ear wax is also removed during the treatment. 45 minutes inclusive of consultation and after care £40 |

Face Reflexology Face reflexology addresses physical, hormonal and emotional imbalances, as well as having a positive influence on the general wellbeing of the client. Face reflexology is a deeply relaxing therapy that combines neuro anatomy with traditional oriental medicinal knowledge of the energy meridians, acupuncture points, and specific techniques used by South American Indians. Using only hands and a light cream, the treatment incorporates precise stimulation of acupressure points, neurological points and body maps on the face. This stimulation sends impulses through the body’s central nervous system to specific organs and parts of the body - to increase blood circulation, lymphatic drainage and rebalance the body’s chemistry. Our understanding is that the close proximity of the brain and the central nervous system to the stimuli in the face encourages the body to respond more quickly. Face reflexology stimulates the body to respond on a physical, emotional and energy level. Conditions which have responded well to treatment include, but are not limited to: hormonal imbalances, anxiety, insomnia, migraines, muscle tension, poor memory and stress related conditions. Face Reflexology also combines looking good with feeling good. As the treatment stimulates the nerves, muscles and tissues of the face, as well as stimulating the micro-circulation, it encourages the build-up of new tissue and helps to improve the muscle tone. The result is a softer, glowing complexion. Check out the link to an interesting article on reflexology. http://www.facialreflexologyusa.com/article/weheard.pdf 40 mins treatment £40 |
